Honestly, we’re astonished.

The road ahead—as much of it as God has allowed us to see—follows so organically upon Karen’s and my life stories up to this point. As someone remarked to us recently, ‘Nobody could have planned this.’

God has opened to us a door of service to emerging Christian leaders and their families in Latin America and the wider Majority World. We are excited to go through that door and discover what’s waiting on the other side.

 

It looks to us as though our life stories, our experience, our training, our stage of life, and our hearts’ desires are molded perfectly to the shape of this divine invitation.

We can’t do this alone. We need to develop a Support Team made up of people whose own stories intersect with ours in a way that leaves them eager to pursue God’s future with us.

Many of you are familiar with the kind of missionary service that requires the missionaries themselves to raise the financial support, the prayer support, and the logistical support that make it all possible. For others of you, this will be new.
We invite you to take a prayed-over financial stake in our ministry with the United World Mission. As we give of our lives, we would be honored to have you give through us to the leaders and families whom we’ll serve. Specifically, we’d ask you to pray about making a monthly financial commitment.

This, as you’ve already noticed, is not for the faint of heart.

Some of you have already told us ‘We’re in!’. We’re a little blown away by that. And very grateful. You can give at our UWM missionary profile page.

Right now, what we’re really asking for is for a chance to tell you our story, and then to step back and listen to your thoughts about whether and how your own path might intersect with ours.

For example, we plan to ask a few of you to be die-hard prayer warriors on our Intercessory Team. We’ll get to you about that in time, and talk it over. Cross-cultural service is a peculiar kind of long-term battle. There are risks and there are casualties. There are also victors and victories. But everyone out there limps a little. They probably won’t, but they could show you their scars.

But candidly, our need right now is for 100 financial partners who will provide month-on-month undergirding of our ministry. 

So over the next weeks and months, we’d like to reach out to many of you and to ask you to consider becoming part of our ministry to some of God’s most promising servants and their families in the Majority World.

We’d love to sit down with you over coffee or a meal. Failing that, we’d love to Skype with you. Will you give us this gift of time, this listening ear, this open heart?
